The most important media channel of all time – the mobile

25 May, 2009 (11:52) | 2.0, Mobile Internet

Why? Because more than 4 Billion people is connected and it out numbers every other media such as the 1,5 billion TV sets, about the same in credit cards and little more than 1 billion computers. The rate of growth is still amazing and in many countries there are more mobile phones than people inhabitants. Almost every grown up person in the world has a mobile phone – “always on/always with me/always personal” and most are internet enabled.

Why not use this channel? This is the paradox – why is this channel not in use as much as it should? There is no doubt that all your current and future customers and clients is using the mobile phone. The question is why are you not reaching out to them in the mobile context? With the right services and activities you can expand your business scope – new services for existing users, find new users and new revenue streams. There market is there – where are you?

Yes, there is some issues that need to be considered when going mobile, but of course it’s like you entering a new market, you need to do some serious thinking. The difference is when entering this market you already have customers only not existing in this “always with me context”. Start of by marketer your mobile service directly to them – from your site, via email or twitter or what ever tool you want to use. Not that everything already existing on Internet is a potential service in the mobile context.
